We checked 180 compounds against the NCAA's 2026–27 banned-substances guidance and WADA's 2026 Prohibited List. 57 are banned by name or class. 122 are not named. 1 needs an ingredient-by-ingredient check.

The NCAA publishes no complete list. It names eight banned classes, gives examples, and bans any substance chemically or pharmacologically related to one of them. So “not named” is not a clearance.

Every row below comes from the NCAA 2026–27 guidance and the WADA 2026 Prohibited List. The table runs most popular first, in the same order as our peptide directory.

What the 180 compounds show

Only 10 of the 57 banned compounds are named by the NCAA

The NCAA prints a short table of examples. 10 banned compounds are in it, or are the same substance as something that is: BPC-157, TB-500, EPO, hGH, hCG, IGF-1 and a handful of anabolic agents.

44 more are banned by class. The NCAA bans any substance related to one of its eight classes, and WADA usually names these in the matching section. The best-known group is the growth hormone releasers: ipamorelin, CJC-1295, sermorelin, tesamorelin, GHRP-2, GHRP-6 and hexarelin. None is in the NCAA's example table. All are banned.

The last 3 are blends. A blend takes the strictest finding of its parts, so GLOW, KLOW and Wolverine are banned because they contain BPC-157 and TB-500. A spray takes its compound's finding, and the table also lists the blends and sprays vendors sell under their own names.

“Not named” runs the other way. It describes the documents, not the compound. 41 of the 122 carry WADA's “S0 if unapproved” flag, because they have no human-use approval and WADA's non-approved category covers that. Semaglutide and tirzepatide are on neither list, though WADA monitors both. Retatrutide is not named either, but it is an unapproved investigational drug, which is the kind of substance WADA's non-approved category covers.

NCAA peptide questions

Are peptides banned by the NCAA?

Some are, and the rule reaches past the named examples. The NCAA 2026–27 list names BPC-157 and TB-500, along with hGH, hCG, EPO, IGF-1 and MK-677, in its peptide hormones, growth factors, related substances and mimetics class. It also bans any substance chemically or pharmacologically related to one of its eight banned classes, which is why growth hormone secretagogues such as ipamorelin are banned without being named. The NCAA says there is no complete list, so a peptide that is not named is not cleared.

Is BPC-157 banned by the NCAA, and why?

Yes. BPC-157 is named on the NCAA 2026–27 list as an example in the peptide hormones, growth factors, related substances and mimetics class, so no class argument is needed. WADA bans it at all times as well: the 2026 Prohibited List names BPC-157 in S0, non-approved substances, because no health authority has approved it for human use. Blends that contain it, including GLOW, KLOW and Wolverine, are banned for the same reason.

Is TB-500 banned by the NCAA?

Is Reta (GLP-3R) banned by the NCAA or NCAA approved?

Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) is the WADA and USADA term. The NCAA uses the term medical exception, and requires Medical Exception Pre-Approval before participation for anabolic agents, hormone and metabolic modulators, and peptide hormones, growth factors, related substances and mimetics.

GLP-3R status

What the 2026 NCAA and WADA sources say about Reta

“Reta” commonly refers to GLP-3R, Eli Lilly's investigational compound LY3437943. None of those names appears in the three public documents below, and none of them publishes a GLP-3R-specific NCAA classification.

NCAA public guidance

The NCAA names banned drug classes, including peptide hormones, growth factors, related substances and mimetics, and gives examples. It says those examples are not exhaustive and that related substances may also be banned. GLP-3R is not one of the named examples.

WADA 2026 Prohibited List

GLP-3R, Reta, and LY3437943 do not appear by name. Its S0 section prohibits drugs with no government approval for human therapeutic use, such as compounds still in clinical development, which is where an investigational GLP-3R product sits for WADA-code athletes.

WADA 2026 Monitoring Program

WADA separately monitors markers of GLP-1S and GLP-2T. WADA explains that the monitoring program covers substances that are not on the Prohibited List. GLP-3R is not named in that monitoring entry, so the entry cannot be used as a GLP-3R clearance.

Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE)

Therapeutic Use Exemption is the WADA and USADA term for permission to use a prohibited medication or method when a documented medical condition requires it and the applicable criteria are met. USADA directs athletes to check the exact medication in Global DRO and submit medical documentation when a TUE is required.

The school submits the prescribing physician's diagnosis, medical history and dosage information through the NCAA system.

How we classify

Not legal advice. NCAA eligibility determinations are fact-specific. A compound marked “not named” can still fall under the NCAA rule covering “any substance chemically/pharmacologically related” to a banned class. Check with your athletic department's compliance office before using any research peptide.

Named by NCAA: the compound, or the same substance, appears in the NCAA 2026–27 example table (BPC-157, TB-500, EPO, hGH, hCG, IGF-1, testosterone and others).
Class-based: not named, but a clear member of a banned class, usually because WADA names it in the matching section (growth hormone releasers, AMPK activators, stimulants such as bromantane and tesofensine).
Not named: not among the examples and no clear class fit. Where a class could still reach the compound, the reason says which one.
Named exception: insulin and Forteo (teriparatide), which the NCAA lists as not banned.
Blends and sprays: a blend takes the strictest finding of its parts; a spray takes its compound's finding.
WADA 2026: a separate rulebook for Olympic and other WADA-code testing. “S0 if unapproved” marks compounds with no human-use approval, which WADA's S0 non-approved category covers. A WADA position never changes the NCAA finding.
