Four unsolicited supplier pitches received by PeptidePrices in August 2026 promoted factory-direct or bulk peptide supply from China. One UNICORN Peptide quotation priced 10-vial boxes at $0.46/mg for GLP-1S, $0.49/mg for GLP-2T, and $0.88/mg for GLP-3R. A public factory-direct list updated July 5, 2026 shows the same order at $0.50, $0.50, and $1.00 per mg.

Broader vendor coverage comes with lower public medians
Across this 47-compound basket, the relationship between vendor coverage and log median price is r = -0.35. Widely carried compounds are cheaper in the current public catalog.
Solid-phase synthesis grows protected chains one residue at a time on resin. In a 2026 Nature Chemistry dataset, 49.9% of 539 syntheses crossed the study's aggregation threshold. Interchain β-sheet contacts can crowd the resin, slow coupling and deprotection, and leave truncated or deleted sequences for purification to remove.
Aggregation often appeared only 5–15 residues from the resin anchor. Targeted pseudoproline substitutions raised crude purity from 23% to 69% and from 17% to 75%, showing how protected-chain composition changes the manufacturing route.
Every incomplete coupling or deprotection carries into the remaining synthesis. For 86-residue proinsulin and 89-residue barstar, a 2023 study cited prior fast-flow yields of 1% and 2%. Longer, higher-concentration cycles followed by HPLC purification produced 2.4% and 3.4% overall yields.
Protein-length chains add purification and folding
A 2020 Science study assembled peptide chains up to 164 amino acids across 327 consecutive reactions. Its nine protein products were purified and folded before their biophysical and enzymatic properties were tested. At protein length, manufacturing includes chain construction, purification, and controlled three-dimensional folding.
In a 2025 automated synthesis study, GLP-1S required peptide assembly plus site-selective installation of its Aib residue and lipidated side chain. The reported route ran 71 steps and produced an 18% isolated yield. Those modifications add chemistry that chain length alone cannot express.
A 2023 production-scale experiment removed solvent-washing stages from solid-phase peptide synthesis while maintaining product quality. The method reduced process waste by up to 95% and used 10–15% of the standard base. The same sequence can carry a very different material burden under a redesigned process.
The price stack has four visible forces: molecular assembly, manufacturing efficiency, wholesale package scale, and downstream vendor coverage. In the August quote, larger vial formats reduced wholesale unit prices by 19–30%; in the public catalog, wider distribution accompanies lower compound medians.
What the August 2026 basket shows
The August 27 snapshot contains 2,168 vendor-compound listings across 47 sufficiently covered compounds. Coverage is deepest for GHK-Cu (91 vendors), MOTS-c (89 vendors), GLP-3R (88 vendors), BPC-157 (82 vendors), and GLP-2T (81 vendors). Together, the leaders show where current public catalogs provide the broadest field of listed prices to compare.
Normalizing each listing by labeled milligrams changes the meaning of “cheap.” A low price per mg does not necessarily produce the lowest checkout total because vial and package sizes differ. The 10mg figure on each card is therefore the compound’s median unit price multiplied by 10mg—not the price of a larger package presented as though it were a 10mg vial.
Across the 47-compound basket, vendor coverage and log median price move in opposite directions (r = -0.35). The most widely listed compounds occupy the lower-price side of the current market more often than sparsely covered compounds.
How this report was calculatedView details
One comparable price per vendor
Each compound uses a vendor’s lowest eligible in-stock listed price per mg. Exact duplicates are collapsed so a vendor with many sizes does not receive extra statistical weight.
Normalized price and checkout cost stay separate
Price per mg divides listed price by labeled mg. Median buy-in keeps the entire package price needed to reach the standard target amount; larger packages are not prorated.
Outliers are visible, not hidden
Impossible parser values fail broad guardrails. With four or more vendors, extreme observations beyond three IQRs on log price are flagged before displayed ranges and variation are calculated.
