Mechanism of action
Synthetic peptide containing p53 activation domain fused to penetratin cell-penetrating sequence; selectively inserts into membranes of cancer cells (which overexpress HDM2); induces apoptosis in cancer cells while leaving normal cells unharmed.
Safety profile
Limited human data. Animal studies show selective cancer cell killing with minimal normal cell toxicity.
