What the market shows

PeptidePrices found 9 in-stock listings from 9 vendors, checked through Oct 8, 2026. The lowest 10mg cost is 12% below the vendor median of $50.99; 3 vendors (33%) fall below that median. 9 of 9 vendors (100%) publish public COA evidence.

A public COA link shows that a vendor publishes testing data. It does not prove that every listed vial has a matching current report. Match the product, strength, batch, and lot before relying on a report.

How this report is calculated

The headline and median use each vendor's lowest whole-package checkout cost to obtain at least 10mg. Smaller packages are multiplied until the target is met, while larger packages retain their full checkout price. The lowest package total is shown only as secondary context because package sizes differ. Known public coupon discounts are applied. Shipping, tax, and unverified promotions are excluded.

Research context

What is Cortagen? Research, safety, and status

Cortagen is four amino acids: alanine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, proline. It shares the Ala-Glu-Asp core with Cartalax (AED) and Epitalon (AEDG). The proline at the end is the only difference from Epitalon.

The developers group it with Vilon, Epitalon and Livagen as synthetic "cytogens." In a 2001 rat explant study each one stimulated growth of the tissue its parent extract came from, and Cortagen's was brain cortex.

Key research takeaways

Cortagen is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro from Vladimir Khavinson's group. It differs from Epitalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) by one amino acid at the end.

The developers say it was designed from an amino acid analysis of Cortexin, a cattle brain-cortex extract registered in Russia as a nootropic drug. When the same group later went looking for short peptides inside its brain-cortex extract by mass spectrometry, it reported finding Pinealon (Glu-Asp-Arg), not AEDP.

The only human data is a 35-patient example inside a US patent, with 15 people on Cortagen and no statistics in the text.

At least two papers report Cortagen doing nothing where its sister peptides worked, one of them from Khavinson's own co-authors. Vendor pages rarely mention them.

6/10 · Not FDA-approved

Mechanism

Synthetic tetrapeptide designed from the brain-cortex extract Cortexin; animal studies report effects on gene expression and free-radical processes.

Research areas

Brain and nervous-system bioregulator research. Human clinical benefit is not established.

Regulatory / research status

Research / preclinical only

Half-life

Not established in direct human pharmacokinetic studies.

Storage

Lyophilized vial: store at -20°C long-term or 2-8°C short-term, protected from light.

Reported side effects

Human safety data is sparse. The available evidence is mainly preclinical and small Russian studies from one research group, and it does not establish clinical efficacy.

Russian bioregulator; short peptide; limited but clean data. Human evidence is thin and mostly from one research group. Safety ratings summarize published clinical data, adverse-event reporting, and regulatory status. How PeptidePrices rates evidence. Research information only, not medical advice.

  • The best-known result is a rat sciatic nerve study: 27% faster fiber growth and 40% faster conduction after 10 days of injections. It has not been reproduced by an unconnected lab that we could find.
  • The only human data is a 35-patient example inside a US patent, with 15 people on Cortagen and no statistics in the text.
