Record Not Found at Verified by Vanguard? Don’t Panic, It’s Common

Short answer

A "record not found" at Verified by Vanguard usually means the brand never put the report in Vanguard's public index, not that the report is fake: only 26% of the Vanguard certificates in our COA library (287 of 1,124) match a record there. Check the lot, client, Laboratory ID and dates on the certificate, then ask the seller and contact Vanguard to confirm it.

You typed the brand from your certificate into Verified by Vanguard and got “No certificates found”, with a line underneath that says “Report missing? Contact the lab.” It feels like a failed check. In our data it is the usual result: for most Vanguard Laboratory reports the public index simply has no entry. This page shows the numbers, explains why, says what a miss does and does not tell you, and lists what to check instead. For the laboratory’s accreditation and our assessment, see the Vanguard Laboratory review. To run a certificate through our checker, use the Vanguard COA checker.

Verification page: verifiedbyvanguard.com/search

  1. Search the brand, not the report number.Go to verifiedbyvanguard.com/search. The first field is “Search for a brand” and the page asks you to type the brand printed on your certificate. A report number on its own is not enough.
  2. Try the other names.Close spellings work, but try the client, the manufacturer and the shop name if they differ.
  3. Narrow only when the list is long. The optional “Product, lot, or report” field cuts a brand’s list. Keep the space inside the Laboratory ID if you enter it.

How many Vanguard reports are in Verified by Vanguard?

The COA library holds 1,124 Vanguard certificates from 36 vendors. A record was found and matched for 287 (26%). The other 837 (74%) did not match, and the table shows what happened to them. Counts as of October 21, 2026; the page replaces them with the live library numbers when it loads.

Record found and matches28726%The index has a public record for the report and every compared field agrees.
Record found but different4<1%A record exists and a result, lot or date differs from the certificate. The one outcome that is a warning.
Searched, nothing returned22220%We searched the printed brand and the report ID and the index returned no certificates.
No exact record established59753%The lookup was unavailable or unresolved, or the file was reviewed without an issuer match.
Verified by our own review, not in the index141%We checked the complete file and the vial photograph ourselves. Vanguard's index still has no record.

The same pattern shows on the price index. 290 vendor listings (a vendor’s specific compound and strength) carry a Vanguard report. 123 (42%) are matched to Vanguard’s record and 167 (58%) are not. We show those 167 as a neutral “View COA”, never as a failed check.

Why most Vanguard reports are not listed

Verified by Vanguard is a program, not a registry of everything the laboratory has tested. Vanguard’s program page describes it as connecting the selected laboratory testing to a report customers can check at the issuing laboratory, with levels the client chooses: Silver for purity, quantity and identity, Gold adding endotoxins and sterility, and Elite adding heavy metals. Our checker’s records describe the public index as opt-in and not listing every report, and we found no public list of which brands take part.

The decision is made by the brand, not report by report. On the price index, 21 vendors have a listing with a Vanguard report. 10 of them have at least one listing in the index and 11 have none. Only 2 of the 21 are split. A vendor is almost always either in the index or not, which is what you would expect if the brand chose.

In short. A miss reflects a brand’s choice about publishing, not the report’s authenticity. A report missing from the index may be a genuine Vanguard certificate; the index cannot say.

What a miss does and does not mean

A miss does not mean

  • The report is fake or edited.
  • Vanguard did not test the sample.
  • The seller is hiding something.
  • You typed it wrong, necessarily. Check the brand spelling first, though.

A miss does mean

  • You cannot confirm the report against Vanguard’s public record yourself.
  • Nothing is verified and nothing is refuted.
  • The checks below carry the weight, plus a question to Vanguard.
  • A listing is shown by us as a neutral “View COA”, without the verified label.

The result that does matter is the reverse: a record that exists and disagrees with your certificate. In our library 4 Vanguard certificates are in that state, for example a lot printed differently on the vendor’s file and on Vanguard’s own PDF. That is a mismatch to raise with the seller whatever else is true.

What to check instead

  1. Read the certificate’s own details. The Laboratory ID in the right-hand block should look like V260731-13 005: a V, a six-digit date, a dash, a run number, a space and three digits. The report date should fall after the date inside that ID, and the signature dates should agree with it.
  2. Match the client and the lot to what you are buying.Under Report To, the brand should be the seller or its named manufacturer. The lot number should be the one on your vial label. A genuine report covers only the lot it names.
  3. Ask the seller for the original file and the brand name Vanguard has on file. The brand on the certificate can differ from the shop name, and that is the most common reason a search comes up empty.
  4. Contact Vanguard directly and ask it to confirm the report. The search page says to contact the laboratory when a report is missing. Use the Vanguard contact form or email testing@vanguardlaboratory.com. What to put in the message is below.
  5. Compare with what else is public. Our COA library and each vendor page show the complete file beside the listing it covers. For a laboratory-neutral checklist, see how to verify a peptide COA.

What to include when you contact Vanguard

Send it through the contact form or to testing@vanguardlaboratory.com. A short message with these details lets Vanguard find the report without a back-and-forth:

  • The Laboratory ID exactly as printed, for example V260731-13 005, with the space before the last three digits.
  • The brand printed under Report To, and the shop you bought from if it differs.
  • The product and the batch or lot number, and the report date.
  • The certificate itself, as the PDF or a clear photo of every page.
  • The question: did Vanguard issue this report, and do the results, lot and dates on your copy match its record?

Red flags that do matter

  • A record that exists but differs. A different batch, date or result between the record and your PDF is a mismatch, whatever the seller says.
  • A Laboratory ID in the wrong shape. A different prefix, no space before the last three digits, or a date that is not a real date.
  • A report dated before its own ID. On the Vanguard reports we examined, the report date falls after the date inside the ID.
  • A verify link on another domain. Vanguard Laboratory’s own sites are vanguardlaboratory.com and verifiedbyvanguard.com. Other sites use similar names.
  • A brand that does not match the seller, with no explanation. A genuine report can still belong to someone else’s sample.

Which vendors are in the index and which are not

The vendors with the most listings matched to Vanguard’s record are below. A match means the report is in the index, not that the vendor is better or worse.

These vendors have the most listings whose Vanguard report is not in the index. Each still publishes the complete file on its listings, shown without a verified label:

What a verified Vanguard report does and does not prove

What it proves. Vanguard Laboratory issued the report in its record, and the copy you hold matches it.

What it does not. The certificate states that Vanguard and its staff did not observe or participate in the sample selection process and cannot confirm the authenticity of the sample or its representativeness of the associated lot. Only a matching batch connects the report to your vial.

Verified by Vanguard questions

Why does Verified by Vanguard say no certificates were found?

Because the brand you typed has no public report in Vanguard's index that matches, which is common. Verified by Vanguard is an opt-in program: a brand's reports appear there only if the brand chose to publish them. Of the 1,124 Vanguard certificates in the PeptidePrices COA library, 287 (26%) match a record in the index and 837 (74%) do not. A search that returns nothing says the report is not listed, not that it is false.

Does a Vanguard report that is not in Verified by Vanguard mean it is fake?

No. A missing entry carries no evidence either way, because the index is opt-in and Vanguard's search page itself says to contact the laboratory when a report is missing. The signal that does matter is the opposite case: a record that exists but differs from your certificate in a result, lot or date. Our library holds 4 of those. Ask the seller for the original file and contact Vanguard to confirm the report.

How many Vanguard reports are in Verified by Vanguard?

Of the 1,124 Vanguard certificates in our COA library from 36 vendors, 287 (26%) match a record in Verified by Vanguard. On the price index, 123 of 290 listings with a Vanguard report (42%) are matched to the index. 11 of the 21 vendors with a Vanguard report on a listing have none of them in it.

Is Verified by Vanguard opt-in?

Vanguard describes Verified by Vanguard as a program: the client chooses a coverage level (Silver, Gold or Elite) when ordering testing, and the program connects that testing to a report customers can check at the issuing laboratory. Our checker's own records describe the public index as opt-in and not listing every report. We found no public list of which brands take part, so the only way to know is to search and, if nothing appears, ask.

What should I check when a Vanguard report is not listed?

Read the certificate itself: the Laboratory ID should look like V260731-13 005 (a V, a six-digit date, a dash, a run number, a space and three digits), the report date should fall after the date inside that ID, the client should be the seller, and the lot should match your vial. Then ask the seller for the original file and contact Vanguard (https://vanguardlaboratory.com/contact/ or testing@vanguardlaboratory.com) to confirm the report. If the record does exist, check that its results match your copy.

How do I contact Vanguard if my COA is not in Verified by Vanguard?

Use the contact form at https://vanguardlaboratory.com/contact/ or email testing@vanguardlaboratory.com. Include the Laboratory ID printed on the certificate (for example V260731-13 005), the brand printed under Report To, the product, the batch or lot number and the report date, and attach the certificate PDF or a clear photo of it. Ask Vanguard to confirm that it issued the report and that your copy matches its record. Vanguard's own search page says to contact the laboratory when a report is missing.

How do I search Verified by Vanguard so I do not miss a report by accident?

Type the brand name printed under Report To on the certificate in the first field. The brand is required; a report number alone is not enough, and the optional product, lot or report field only narrows a brand's list. Close spellings work, but the brand on the certificate is often the manufacturer or the client rather than the shop you bought from, so try that name too. Keep the space inside the Laboratory ID if you add it.

What does the PeptidePrices checker do with a Vanguard report that is not in the index?

It reads the Laboratory ID from your certificate and searches Vanguard's public index for it. A match is shown as verified. A report that is not in the index is shown as a neutral View COA, never as a failure, because an absent entry says nothing about the report. A record that exists but whose results differ from your copy is shown as a conflict.

Which peptide vendors have Vanguard reports in Verified by Vanguard?

On the PeptidePrices price index, 123 listings from 10 vendors carry a Vanguard report that matched Vanguard's own record. The vendors with the most are Peptide Giants (32), Hello Stacks (29), Studz Peptides (21), Rogue Compounds (15), Kimera Chems (11) and Nova Biolabs (5). 167 other listings carry a Vanguard report that is not in the index.

Does a verified Vanguard report prove my vial was tested?

No. Vanguard's certificate states that its staff did not observe or participate in the sample selection process and cannot confirm the authenticity of the sample or its representativeness of the lot. The lot on the certificate has to match the lot on your vial, and the client has to be the seller you bought from.
